I don't know if I should see a physio, osteo, massage or stretch therapist!
Stretch and Soothe always recommends you see a trained health professional for diagnosis and treatment of injuries. Assisted stretch therapy is an adjunct therapy that promotes overall well being. Stretch therapy is designed for prevention and maintenance rather than being a reactive treatment to an ailment.
Can you focus just on stretching my problem areas?
The body does a lot to compensate around and accommodate problem areas which is why we always recommend a full body assisted stretch. The ‘all of body’ relief that comes from this is what we prioritise delivering.
For tailored regular stretching of problem areas please feel free to discuss a treatment plan with your therapist.
How else do I prepare for a stretch?
-
Try to be ready 5 minutes early to fill out the client intake form and talk about the session with your therapist.
-
Try not to have a full stomach and do a small warm up first. Walking or other gentle motion for 5-10 minutes is enough.
What should I wear for a stretch?
Comfortable, loose fitting or stretchy clothing is perfect. No tight clothes such as jeans. No skirts or dresses, pants work best. You will remain fully clothed with your shoes off. No oil is used for stretching sessions.
What is a Shirodhara Head Spa?
Shirodhara is an ancient Ayurvedic ritual where warm, soothing oil flows in a steady stream across your forehead, calming the nervous system, promoting clarity, deep rest, and emotional balance.
What are the main benefits of Shirodhara?
This deeply sensory treatment is known to:
-
Reduce stress, anxiety, and fatigue
-
Improve sleep and mental clarity
-
Relieve headaches and gently soothe the mind
How does Shirodhara help with anxiety and stress?
The warm oil gently stimulates calming pressure points on the forehead, helping to slow brain waves and regulate hormone flow—creating space for inner stillness and emotional release.
Are there any safety considerations for Shirodhara?
Shirodhara is usually safe when done in a serene, professional setting. Oils are warmed carefully, and eye protection is provided.
It's best avoided if you have:
-
Fever or acute illness
-
Open wounds or skin sensitivities on the head
-
Severe sinus issues or neurological concerns
Is Shirodhara good for scalp and hair health?
Yes! The herbal oils used in Shirodhara nourish the scalp, promote circulation, and may support hair strength and balance sebum, all while deeply relaxing the nervous system.
Can scratch therapy help with anxiety or sensory overwhelm?
Yes. Light, rhythmic scratching and brushing gently engage the nervous system’s calming response—reducing tension, increasing grounding, and relaxing both body and mind.
Will scratch therapy feel ticklish or unsettling?
Not at all. It’s designed to soothe, not trigger. Techniques are soft, repetitive, and tailored to your comfort—always adjusted based on feedback to ensure it feels calming, never ticklish or intrusive.
Is scratch therapy the same as massage?
No—scratch therapy focuses on light, sensory touch to engage the skin's receptors, offering grounding and relaxation without deep pressure. It's more about calming the senses than targeting muscle tension.
Is scratch therapy suitable for everyone?
Scratch therapy is generally safe and nurturing, though it may not suit if you:
-
Have active skin conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, open wounds)
-
Are highly sensitive to light touch or tactile stimulation
In such cases, we adjust our techniques or suggest an alternative sensory ritual.
